Yesterday was a full day learning the ropes. We had 16 pilgrims for dinner and 6 of us volunteers joined the group. Bob made a tasty local dish with potatos, onions, chirizo. Doesn't sound like much but was very tasty. Cooking for more than 12 will be a challenge not knowing measurements. Bob will be here to guide us for a few more nights. We tagged along with him to do the shopping. It is an easy 8 minute walk away to a large grocery store. The meal is at 8pm and by 9pm the pilgrims are getting ready to retire while we prep for breakfast. We leave everything out for them to eat something before they walk on, if they want. The morning fare is bread, jelly, biscuits, coffee and tea, and cornflakes. By 10:15pm everyone is in bed.Yesterday the majority of the pilgrims were from Italy.
With the morning chores done, we have 3 hours break time. I am waiting to say good bye to the volunteers leaving today. I bet once they go, we will have more questions to ask.
The kitchen and dining area. Max is 30 people. We will check the list at 5:15pm to see how many signed up for tonight's meal. Not sure what Bob is thinking.
