Friday, October 31, 2025 Last Night & Halloween

The church and parish house I called home for 16 nights.

Friday was dedicated to training and the two new hosts were eager and excited to start their stint.  It was a special last meal with having the two new hosts, the host manager, a volunteer cook I met at the start of my time, and the 8 pilgrims staying the night.  It was a lively group with 7 countries present.

As I am writing this on Nov 14, this will be their day training the next two volunteers.  The time goes quickly.
The last time singing the blessing before the meal.  We asked them to sing along with us and typically, they did great!  After the meal, we had another local guest come to take us through a secret passageway in the church to guide those who wanted through a sort of meditation in the back area of the church.

This was not a nightly event so I was happy we got to participate on this night being the last and all and to share it with the Pilgrims.  Saint James was watching over us.

Somehow, I still had the energy at 10pm to accept an invitation from the volunteer cook to have a celebratory drink among the hordes of party goers for Halloween.

It was a mad house in the side alleys where the tapas bars are located.  We squeezed our way through for the fun of it.  We held on to each other to avoid being separated or pick-pocketed.

A few groups were in costumes and were pleased when we asked to take their picture.  I can't think of a better way to end my stay in Logrono.

Next post will be about my short time in Algorta, a part of Getxo.  Stay tuned.
